William ALLRED, Jr. is believed to be the son of William ALLRED, Sr. and his wife Patience JULIAN.

The marriage bond of William ALLRED, Jr. and Mary "Polly" ROUTH on 27 Jan 1835 in Randolph identifies him as a "Jr.". Therefore one concludes he is the son of William ALLRED, Sr.

The only record of this family is in the 1850 US Census for the Northern Division of Randolph County, North Carolina, D/F 1221. There is an extensive estate file and probate record in the year 1853. The inventory sales lists many of William's siblings and relatives in the estate file details.

Some unknown tragedy or sickness perhaps came to this family in 1853 at such a young age. The Estate Settlement does not address the wife, Mary "Polly" ROUTH. This suggests a log cabin fire or serious illness or accident that took the lives of this couple very quickly at age 40. It appears the children were then orphans or on their own because they are scattered in the 1860 US census into various homes.

According to the 1850 US Census and other documents the children were:

1. Samuel C. ALLRED, b. 1839 NC; d. Jun 1864 VA, Civil War

2. Arlendo William ALLRED, b. 1840 NC; d. 1863, Civil War

3. Benjamin Franklin "Dock" ALLRED, b. 15 Feb 1842 NC; d. 20 Jun 1924 NC.

4. Martha ALLRED, b. 1844 NC; d. ?
