Frank Clark Gillette
March 19, 1928 ~ August 11, 2017

Frank Clark Gillette was born March 19, 1928 in Declo, Idaho, and died August 11, 2017 in Pocatello, ID, due to complications sustained from an accident. Frank was the eighth of nine children born to Lawrence Augustus and Wilma Gay Anderson.

Frank married Maurine Cardon and to that union were born five children. In 1967, Frank married Lorna Bowen. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They made their home on the family farm in Declo. Frank was a progressive farmer and particularly enjoyed raising sugar beets. Farm life afforded Frank the opportunity to snow and water ski, hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, and fly airplanes, hang gliders, and paragliders. He and his family lived in Logan, Utah during the winter where he served as the ski school director at Beaver Mountain.

He served for many years as a board member of the Cassia County Sugar Beet Growers Association. He also served as president of the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association and received a Lifetime award by the Professional Ski Instructors of America.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a variety of callings. For many years he served as Scout Leader and had a material impact on the lives of many young men. Frank and Lorna served a mission in Birmingham, AL, but he often stated his favorite calling was serving as a Nursery Leader.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; seven of his siblings, Joseph, Wanda, Hazel, L.A., George, Don and Wilma; a grandson, Ryan Bowen; and a stepdaughter, Connie Bowen.

He is survived by his wife, Lorna, of 50 years; and children, Marie (Terry) Smith, Julie (Wayne) Johnson, Carla (Dell) Smith, Brent Gillette, Lawrence (Roxanne) Gillette, Carolyn (Gaylen) Smyer, Kerry (Melanie) Bowen, Wallace (Debbie) Bowen, David (Nedra) Bowen and Lorna Kay (Dan) Kelsey; a sister, Renee (Charles) Clark; 44 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Declo Idaho Stake Center. Burial will follow at the Declo Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Frank’s family wishes to express appreciation to the first responders that provided aid in a time of need.
