Evelyn is the youngest of 11 known children of Moses Ambrose Smith and Kitora Esther Baldock. The family is shown in the attached photograph except for a brother who died as an infant. She died at home of double pneumonia and influenza at the age of 15 years, 8 months and 29 days. She had been living in Council Bluffs for 12 years with her older brother Tom. Her father, Moses, contracted tuberculosis while living in Missouri. He and Kitora moved to San Antonio, Texas in about February of 1917 where he died of a lung hemorrhage and tuberculosis on 7 April 1917 leaving Kitora as his widow.
