SHELBY: P.G. "Speed" Parker, 87, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Perry and Ethel Morrison Parker.

He was a member of Dover Baptist Church, and retired from Cleveland County Schools, as an electrician.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Jack Parker; and son-in-law, Charles Howard Smith.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years; 2 daughters; 2 sons; 4 brothers; 5 sisters; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church, and other times at his home.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 2pm, Tuesday, at Dover Baptist Church

OFFICIATING: Dr. B. Ervin Price will officiate

SURVIVED: He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Elizabeth "Lib" Ogle Parker, of the home; daughters, Diane Smith and Wanda Lowery, both of Shelby; sons, Phillip Parker and girlfriend Kathy Robertson, and Ed Parker and wife Karen of Wilmington; brothers, Buck and Tom Parker of Shelby, Vop Parker of Lattimore, Jake Parker of Shelby; sisters, Margaret Williams of Greensboro, Susie Clark and JoAnne Nanney of Shelby, Mary Denton of Lattimore, and Betty Greene and husband Herb of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Mindy McKee and husband Shane, Cayla Carroll and husband Mychal, Lindsey Phillips and husband Justin, Jennifer Mayes and husband Lucas, Lauren Napier and husband Josh, and Jack Edward Parker Jr.; 5 great-grandchildren; extended family, David Lowery, Gay Parker, Sheila Barkley, and Elijah Bullard; and many Nieces and nephews.
