Billy Hobbs, 89, died Monday July 31, 2017, in Bellingham WA due to complications of COPD with his beloved wife of 45 years Virginia at his side. Born in Harbor City CA on January 18, 1928, and born again in Bellingham WA on July 23, 2017, he was the son of the late Clarence Benton "CB" Hobbs, Sr., and Mary Jane Barkley of Lomita CA. He graduated from Narbonne High School in Lomita CA in 1946, where he was student body president.

He joined the Navy in 1946, and became an Aerographer's Mate (weatherman) serving in the western Pacific. Upon returning home to Southern California in 1948, he spent his career as a journeyman carpenter, refinery operator, and contractor. Billy and Virginia lived in Westminster CA for many years before moving to Bellingham WA in 1991, where he worked in retirement as a Walmart greeter for over 15 years while pursuing his passions as a devoted husband, family man, character, avid golfer, and collector.

He is predeceased by his son Ted (2000), daughter Gayla Chunyk (2009), and siblings Helen (2008), Hurshel (2001), Rose (2002), CB Jr. (1983), Harvey (1996), and twin Bobby (2005).

He is survived by his wife Virginia, sons Russ (Renée) Hobbs of Nipomo CA; John (Beverly) Hobbs of Boise ID; and Lamont (Tammy) Day of Deming WA; daughter Melody (Jody) Church of Bellingham WA; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was a member of Christ the King Community Church (CTK) in Bellingham WA, and often greeted parishioners at Sunday service.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, August 21, 2017 at CTK, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham, WA 98226. Pastor Grant Fishbook will be officiating. A private graveside service and internment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bellingham WA. Flowers for the memorial service, or donations in lieu of flowers, may be offered at Christ the King Church, 4173 Meridian Street, Bellingham, WA 98226.
