Palmer Hansen was married to Mabel Mullenger, the daughter of Robert and Sadie Sizer Mullenger on 14 November 1917. They became the parents of eight children:

2. Elaine, b. 21 Dec 1922, married Robert Cornwell;
3. Betty Jean, b. 6 Sept 1925, married John Krantz;
4. Palmer D., b. 10 Jan 1930, married Bonnie Davis;
5. Donald, b. 19 Jan 1933;
6. Juanita, b. 6 Mar 1936, married John Holland;
7. Russell, b. 17 Jan 1939, married Kathleen Molgaard; and
8. Linda, b. 21 May 1942, married Andrew Gancy.
Palmer and Mable lived all their lives in Audubon County, and over 50 years on their farm in Hamlin Township. Mabel moved to 216 Leroy St., Audubon, Iowa after Palmer passed on 05 June 1975.
