Peggy was born Saturday, June 10, 1933 in Rush Springs, to Levi L. and Dona C. (Gardner) Beard. Peggy has lived in the Rush Springs area all of her life and attended the Rush Springs Schools. She married Curtis Karl Scruggs in Wichita Falls on December 24, 1948, he preceded her in death September 9, 2013.
Peggy enjoyed sewing, crafts, traveling and playing bingo with her sisters. Peggy loved playing with her grandkids and great grandkids. She also loved visiting with her older grandkids about their future or anything that came to mind. Peggy was very proud of her Choctaw Heritage and that her grandfather Edward Nail was an original enrollee. Peggy was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Rush Springs.
Survivors include, 2 Daughters: Shannon Foster & husband Bobby of Rush Springs Marilyn Joyce Scruggs of Marlow 7 Grandchildren Kyle, Robert, James, Foster. Shane & Curtis Elam, Stuart O’Neal, Heather Ruthstrom. 9 Great Grandchildren 1 Son in Law Steve Prieto Numerous Nieces & Nephews
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Karla O’Neal Prieto, great Grandson, Justice Elam, 2 brothers, Buster Beard and Ralph Beard, Sr., 2 sisters, Billie Jenkins and Wanda Steltemeier.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel, with Rev. Terry Beard officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Rush Springs.
