Ted R. Fondy was born October 22, 1934 in Lubbock, Texas. His parents were Joe Bailey Fondy and Juanita Catherine Skeen, both natives of Texas. Ted was the oldest of five children followed by Carolyn, Betty Jo, Jerry Pat, and Mike Douglas. Ted grew up in Slaton, Texas, southeast of Lubbock. His parents were in the leather business and owned the Texas Boot & Shop shop in Lubbock. In 1943, they moved to Slaton and owned Fondy's Boot & Shoe Shop.

Ted graduated from Slaton High School in 1951 at age 16. Ted did not have the luxury of much time for school activities, since he had a full time job as projectionist at the movie theater to help on family expenses. He also had many chores at home such as tending to the livestock, garden, lawn, and home maintenance - a very full schedule indeed.

After graduation, Ted studied engineering for one year at Texas Tech University and was in the Air Force R.O.T.C. In the summer months, he was a Surveyor for the Santa Fe Railroad. During the Korean War, Ted volunteered as an Army Paratrooper for 3 years (1953-1955). He was in the 11th Airborne Division and was sent to Korea. He later served with Combined Command/Reconnaissance Activities/Far East in Japan, in espionage/counter intelligence. He was a Sergeant with 3 years active and 5 years reserve duty.

Following his military service, Ted alternately worked at his jog as Surveyor for the Santa Fe Railroad and studying engineering at Texas Tech University, from 1965 to 1959. In his job, he worked in Texas, New Mexico, and Kansas. In Kansas, he met and married Patricia Ann Mourining in Clearwater, Kansas on September 6, 1958. They returned to Texas to complete another year of college and came back to Clearwater, Kansas until December, 1960. After returning, daughter Kendra Denise was born on October 14, 1959.

In 1960, the family moved to Lakewood, Colorado. Ted worked as a Publications Engineer for Martin Marietta until 1964 on the Titan I Missile Project. Son Kirk Alan was born September 3, 1961. In 1965, Ted returned to his career as a Surveyor with the Union Pacific Railroad until 1970. From 1970 to 1974, he was Surveyor for Frasier and Gingery Consultants and Huffstutler Engineering.

In 1974, Ted made his last job change to Denver Water. He was a Registered Land Surveyor and after 2 years, promoted to Water Resource Engineering in the Planning Division, a job he would hold for the next 20 years until retirement on October 11, 1995. His duties included operations, planning, & contracts administration for the raw water supply system and hydro-electric power plants. Ted is a member of the American Legion, Aurora Eagles, and Southern Baptist Church. He was completing research for a family history on both parents and did some traveling.

Ted Ray Fondy was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bailey Fondy and Juanita Catherine (Skeen) Fondy, and his brother Pat Fondy. He is survived by his siblings Carolyn Tucker, Betty Ritchey, and Mike Fondy. Ted is also survived by children Kendra Ewing (Willie Ewing) and Kirk Fondy (Beth Fondy). Ted's descendants also include five grandchildren: Mari Elise Ewing (Nate Strauch); Kali Ewing (Dan Hardinger); Chester Ewing (Jana Ewing); Olivia Fondy; and Trace Fondy and two great-grandchildren: Cecil Hardinger and Will Strauch.
