Lester was born in Tyringham, Berkshire, MA in 1794. His parents were Daniel Webster and Anna Clarke. His father died in Tyringham in 1802 when Lester was only eight years old. He moved with his family to Greece, Monroe, NY around 1805. While in NY he married Rebecca Britton around 1817. They had at least two children, Minerva and Henry B. Webster. Rebecca died before 1830 and Lester remarried. His 2nd wife was Prudence Champlain. They were in Illinois in 1850, later moving to Black Hawk, Illinois. Lester and Prudence had at least four children, Lester Jr., Mary Ann, Prudence Rebecca, and George Newton.
