Furrs - Ocie Lorene Akens Golding, 84, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by her family, church family and many friends. She loved to make pound cakes and travel with her husband and close friends. She loved hummingbirds and her grand pup, Harley. She loved watching various gospel singers and pastors on TV. Upon her death, she was the youngest and last remaining of seven siblings. She was born and raised in Sweetwater, TN. She moved to the Chicago, IL area in the 1950's, where she met her husband, Charles Golding of Pontotoc, MS. They married on December 25, 1959 in Sweetwater, TN and made their home in Tupelo then Furrs for the 57 years they were married, until her death.

Services will be Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 2PM at Furrs Baptist Church. Bro. Steve Cohea will officiate. Burial will follow in White Zion Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home of Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors: her husband-Charles "Buddy" Golding; her daughters-Shelia Ratliff(Bart) and Teresa Golding; one grandchild-B.J. Ratliff of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Preceded in death by: father-Ollie Akens; mother-Minnie Akens and son-Jerry Golding.

Pallbearers: Melvin Wages, Johnny Keith, Bill Malone, Billy Dillard, Dexter Calloway and Randy Todd.

Visitation will be Friday, August 4, 2017 5-8PM at Furrs Baptist Church and Saturday, August 5, 2017 1PM until service time at Furrs Baptist Church.
