Mrs. Margaret Farquhar (1867-1932)
Mrs. Margaret Farquhar, 64 years of age, passed away last Wednesday evening, September 14th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dale Youde four miles southwest of Royal. Mrs. Farquhar had been in failing health for over a year and a half, the result of a fall suffered at her home in Sutherland in January 1930. Since the injury she had been living with her daughters Mrs. Youde and Mrs. Severt Harris.

The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Sutherland last Saturday afternoon with the pastor, Rev. Corwin Taylor, in charge.

Burial was in Waterman cemetery. Mrs. Frank Bruner and Herman Behmer, accompanied by Miss Frances Bruner at the piano, furnished the music.

1867 - Mrs. Margaret Farquhar - 1932

Margaret Ann Spensley was born November 3, 1867, at New Diggings, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Hannah Spensley.

She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dale Youde, near Royal on September 14, 1932, at the age of 64 years.

In 1886 she was united in marriage to Thomas Eustice, to which union two children were born, Mrs. Gena Youde of Royal and a daughter who died in infancy.

After the death of her husband Mrs. Eustice was married to Alexander Farquhar at Dubuque, Iowa. They moved at once to O'Brien county and established their home in Grant township, where they resided until the death of Mr. Farquhar in 1918.

Six children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy, and Mrs. Lottie Weaver, deceased February 9, 1918.

Mrs. Farquhar was one of eight daughters and she was the mother of eight daughters. Those who are living are: Mrs. Dale Youde of Royal; Mrs. S. M. [sic, B. M.] Clarksean of Lime Springs; Mrs. Severt Harris of Peterson and Mrs. Claude Weaver and Celeste Farquhar of Sutherland.

After the death of Mr. Farquhar in 1918 Mrs. Farquhar moved to Sutherland, where she made her home until January 190, when following a fall from which she never fully recovered, she made her home with her two daughters, Mrs. Dale Youde and Mrs. Severt Harris.

During more than a year and eight months she was a constant sufferer, and at last after all had been done that loving hands could do her spirit took its leave of the earthly house.

In her girlhood home in Wisconsin she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist church. While living in Sutherland she was for some time an active member of the Ladies Aid of the church.

Besides her children and grandchildren Mrs. Farquhar leaves to mourn her passing four sisters: Mrs. Ray Pellitier of Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. Linnie Callahan of Waseca, Minn.; Mrs. Olive Hicks of Scales Mound, Ill.; and Mrs. Joenes Symons of East St. Louis, Ill.
