Randolph was born June 3, 1929 in Hohen Solms, Louisiana to Earl S. Barnett, Jr. and Marguerite (Richardson) Barnett. He was a devoted husband, happily married to the love of his life, Alma Lee, for 35 years.
Randy was an extraordinary man and child of God. He was deeply spiritual and found great peace in sharing his Christian faith with others. He could never turn a blind eye to anyone in need, and he gave generously to all who crossed his path. Everyone that met Randy commented on his sweet and gentle spirit.
Randy was a wonderful, loving father. Raising children was one of the bravest, most challenging and rewarding things he ever did. He taught them faith, patience, tolerance, generosity, unconditional love, and so much more. These traits will be passed on for countless generations.
After serving as a Seabee in the U.S. Navy, Randy earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and went on to earn a Masters degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University.
He spent his professional life helping others, working as a social worker for the Texas Department of Health. During his over 30 years living in Lubbock, Texas, he was a faithful, active member of Trinity Church and The Full Gospel Fellowship. Randy loved camping, fishing, hunting, and being outdoors, especially with his family.
Randolph is preceded in death by his parents, his cherished wife, Alma Lee Barnett, his beloved brother, Earl S. Barnett III, and his loving stepson, Mickey Rudd.
He is survived by his children, Randy Barnett (Mary Beth Barnett) and Lisa Barnett Herrera (Michael Herrera); his stepsons, Robbie, Gary (Sylvia Rudd), and Harvey (Audrey Rudd); grandchildren, Vanessa, Courtland, Ainsley, Benjamin, Kinsey, Rex, Misty, Michael, April, Stacy, Chad, David, Andy, and Cheyanne; Niece, Kathy Traylor, and nephews Rick Barnett, Doug Barnett, and Charles Barnett. He is also survived by many loving great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews, and all the beautiful friends he made along the way.
A graveside service will be held September 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Houston, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goff Ministries.
