Debbie was the daughter of the late Eugene F. Scott and Judith A. Morris Scott. She is survived by her husband Gene D. Schermerhorn; sister Jennifer D. Scott; brother-in-laws Timothy and Philip; uncles Leonard and Robert; aunts Geraldine, Katherine, Helen, and MaryJo; and cousins Stacey, Karin, Frank, Bryan, Christine, Holli, John, Kevin, Alyssa, Denise, Michael, Margaret, and Matthew.

Debbie graduated from Pascack Valley High School (Hillsdale, NJ) in 1978. She continued her studies at Nyack College (Nyack, NY) and Rockland Community College (Suffern, NY) where she earned her Associate's in Art.

Aside from her gentle spirit and love for the Lord, Debbie was most well-known for her artistic skills. After college, she briefly worked at Prentice Hall and National Religious Broadcasters before settling into her life-long career as a graphic/web designer and digital content coordinator with Christian & Missionary Alliance (Colorado Springs, CO), which she loved for more than 30 years. She was also the principal graphic designer and owner of D&G Media and recipient of 11 ADDY awards for her illustrations, productions, and web work.

Before moving west with C&MA, Debbie was a member of River Vale Community Church (River Vale, NJ) where she was a member of the chancel choir and Pioneer Girls leader. After settling in Colorado and marrying the love of her life, Debbie joined Simchat Torah Beit Midrash (Englewood, CO), where she worshipped, studied, and shared her skills as a freelance artist.

Debbie was NJ State Roller Skating Champion in the late 70s. She enjoyed amateur astronomy and maintained a website devoted to beginner astronomers. Along with her sister, Debbie enjoyed researching her ancestors and working on her family's genealogy.

Though her time on earth came to an end early, her legacy lives on in her designs and continues to minister to hearts all around the world... just as she prayed they would.
