Mary E Plummer was born in Highland county, Ohio, July 15, 1831. She spent her childhood and youth in that county; there she attended the schools, grew to womanhood, taught school and there was married to Baily Rison, Sept. 5, 1850. Seven children were born to them, only two are now living - viz: Marentha A. and Curtis G. Rison, both of whom have continuously lived with their mother, tenderly caring for her while she was passing away, even to its final sunset, which came the morning of July 4th, 1921. She lacked but eleven days of reaching her 90th year on earth.
Mrs. Rison's health had been failing for several years. She has been confined to her bed for the past two and a half years, virtually helpless all that time.
From her early life she has been a consistent, faithful member of the Methodist church and loved by all who knew her. The family came to Colorado in 1878, taking up a homestead in the Boxelder neighborhood five miles east of Fort Collins, where the husband, Baily Rison, died in 1898. Five years after his death, they sold the farm and moved to town where they have since resided. Besides the two children above mentioned, Mrs. Rison leaves two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, also three sisters, viz: Mrs. Nora Packer, and Mrs. Grace Plummer, both of Denver, and Mrs. Mahala Sexton of Grand Junction, Colo. The funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. R. H. Ayres, Rev. L. O. Woodford, a former pastor preaching the sermon in the First M. E. church, Fort Collins, Colo. Internment was in Grandview cemetery on July 7, 1921.
