John Ed was born in Dooly County on May 23, 1933. He was the second born of six children to the late Curtis Lamberth and the late Lena Grace Lamberth. He was a graduate of Byromville High School in Byromville, Georgia. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 through 1956, during which time he was in California for a year and England for three years. Following his tenure with the USAF, he worked at Vanta Corporation in Montezuma, and later was a great salesman for Sunbeam and Colonial Bread. In 1963, John Ed purchased Forty One Grocery in Perry in partnership with his wife, and his late son, Ken. Through that career, he had served the community for 54 years. John Ed was a member and a Deacon at Second Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He received many awards for community service. He was very much loved by his wife, his family, his extended family, many friends, and his customers.
Awaiting John Ed in Heaven are his daughter, Sheila Denise Lamberth; his son, Kenneth Dale Lamberth; his brothers, Willie Joe Lamberth and Curtis "Bud" Lamberth; his sister, Virginia Lockerman; his brother-in-law, J.D. Lockerman; his sisters-in-law, Ouida Lamberth and Mary Lizzie Lamberth.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Homestead Hospice, for the caring love and kindness shown to John Ed over the past weeks and months while he was being served by them.
