Leona was born on October 15, 1927 in Rea, MO, to Ellis and Lucille (Parrish) Cooper.
She was raised in Guilford and graduated from Guilford High School and she attended business school in Kansas City, MO.
She married Sherman E. Capehart on January 14, 1950 in Guilford, MO. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2008.
She worked for over 30 years as a bank teller beginning with American National Bank and ending her career with US Bank where she retired as the head teller. She lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
Following her retirement she served as a volunteer at Heartland Hospital. She loved gardening and her flowers and many, many walks with her dog Misty.
Mrs. Capehart was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sons; Robert and Steven Capehart and brothers; Byron, Ellis and Wayne Cooper.
Leona is survived by daughters; Susan Capehart of Jefferson City, MO, and Mary Capehart of Kansas City, MO, brother; Max Cooper and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Service 10 AM, Saturday at Ashland Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family 6-8 PM on Friday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
