Marvin Barkley, 77, passed away July 20, 2017, on his 77th birthday. He was born to Arthur Barkley and Grace McLaughlin Barkley on July 20, 1940, in Benedict, Kan. He is survived by wife, Roselee Barkley; sister, Joyce Thomas; stepchildren, Glen (Marsha) Mapes, Stewart (Paulette) Mapes, Irene Mapes, Brenda Mapes; grandchildren, great-grand-children, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Preceded in death by parents; siblings, Nada, Mabel, Bessie, Minnie, Albert, Owen, Doris, Neva and Charles. Marvin was a longtime CDOT employee. He served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after four years of service. He loved sports, especially football. He proudly played in the state championship football game in 1958 and was a proud Central Wildcat graduate of 1959. He also enjoyed car racing and loved working at Beacon Hill. Marvin was a simple man, so here's to baloney, white bread and hot peppers. Rest in peace. Service, 11 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, at Community of Christ, 66 Blackburn Lane.
