Geneva L. Grooms was born Dec. 22, 1938, to Benjamin and Agnes Kimbrel of Arlington, Ga. Her father was the sheriff of Calhoun County, Ga., for many years.
Geneva was a talented, professional country western singer in her youth and had shared the stage with Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Porter Wagner. She went on to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tenn. She later became involved in the restaurant business in Georgia, Florida and Texas. Until last year, she was the co-owner of Farnsworth Transmission in Amarillo.
Geneva was a member of the American Cherokee Federation and the Cherokee tribe of Albany, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Benjamin, Tony Ray and Pollyann Kimbrel, all of Arlington, and Esther Harris of Burlington, Iowa.
