Shirley was born Aug. 13, 1935, at home in Masury, a daughter to Abraham and Laurabelle Rickert Haynie.
A 1953 graduate of Brookfield High School, she found employment working as a wire harness assembler for Packard Electric in Warren. She retired in 1985 after 30 years of service.
Among her memberships are Brookfield Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star 518 in Hartford and the Red Hat Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, farming, canning and crocheting.
Shirley will be best remembered for her contagious smile, kind heart and her devotion to her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister, Flora E. (Dan) Smith of Brookfield; her brother, James “Jim” E. Haynie (Penny) of Liberty; and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Duane Christy and Allan Van Slyke; her brother, William F. Haynie; and her sister, Rose Moffett.
