Agnes Aversa, 88, of Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 21, 2017. She was born Agnes D'Amelio on December 19, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised. On April 19, 1953, Agnes and her husband, Augustine, fondly known as "Gus", were married and began their lives together in Brooklyn. In 1960, they moved to Cliffwood Beach to raise their family. Shortly after in 1961, Agnes and Gus opened Mike's Sub Shop in Keyport, which is still owned and operated by the Aversa family today.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Theresa (Casperino) D'Amelio and four siblings. Agnes is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 64 years, Augustine "Gus" Aversa, her loving sons, Paul Aversa and his wife, Colleen and Augustine Aversa and his wife, Lisa, her dear brother, Alesio D'Amelio, her adoring sister, Mary Guzzardo, and her cherished grandchildren, Danielle Jones and her husband, Michael, Amanda Aversa and her wife, Tammy Aversa, Gus Aversa, Marissa Aversa, and Riley Aversa. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Hwy/Rt. 35 North, Hazlet. A Prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at approximately 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
