Early Life: Valene was born February 14, 1926, in Emery, Utah, to Arthur William and Lulu Stafford Snow Andersen. Valene’s mother passed away 15 months after her birth and she was raised by her Aunt Lavern in Emery, then moving to Salt Lake City as a teen to attend East High School and continue her piano studies.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Following high school, Valene’s sisters encouraged her to move to the Los Angeles area with them, where she continued her music, along with general studies at the Los Angeles Jr. College. She attended the Wilshire LDS Ward where she met dental student, David Stoddard Judd. After a two year on and off courtship, they married August 14, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Valene was an exemplary mother and wife. She lovingly cared for eight children, instilling an appreciation of music, a testimony of the living Christ and the restored gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught by example and served in many callings in the Church, her favorite being Cultural Refinement teacher in Relief Society.
