Joe C. Rombach, 58, a veteran of World War I and a former employe of the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant, died this morning in a local hospital. He had been in failing health for the last year and had been critically ill for one day. Arrangements for the funeral await the arrival of relatives from out of the city. The Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rombach was born Jan. 5, 1895, at Ravenna to Mr. and Mrs. John Rombach. When he was 12 years of age, the family moved to Haskell, Okla. There, Mr. Rombach completed his schooling. He was engaged in the garage business at Haskell after he received his honorable discharge after World War I. Ten years ago, he came to Grand Island. Since coming here, he had been employed at the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant and for a time was employed at the Mead Ordnance Plant. Mr. Rombach and Miss Verda Martin were married in Haskell in October of 1922. Four children were born to them.

Mr. Rombach is survived by three sons, Joe C. Rombach, Miami, Okla., Robert Rombach, Grand Island and Jack Rombach, serving with the air force in Korea; his mother, Mrs. Fanny Rombach, Iola, Kan.; three brothers, Charles Rombach, Crescent City, Calif., L. F. Rombach, Grand Island, and George Rombach, Iola, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Wesley Pitchford, Beggs, Okla., Mrs. Emmett Handley, Cushing, Okla., and Miss Lillian Rombach, Iola, Kans.; and 4 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles; his father, John Rombach; and two brothers, John and Frank Rombach.
