Irene Sweet, 87, died in a Fortuna sanitarium Monday evening following a lengthy illness. She was born March 12, 184, at Lone Star Ranch, Bear River, and spent her entire life in the Ferndale-Fortuna area. She had made her home in Fortuna for the past 30 years. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Ferndale, and the Rohnerville Grange.
She is survived by three nieces, Isabelle Amen, Fortuna, Helena Chambers, Petrolia, and Bernice McKeown, Paradise; three nephews, George Sweet, Orman Edeline, Clark Anderson, all of Ferndale.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Citizens Mortuary, Ferndale, with the Rev. Ray F. Magnuson officiating. Interment will follow at Ferndale Cemetery.
