Winfield Montgomery Slack, first son of Charles Warren (1858-1901) and Ella Thomas Payne Slack (1862-1951), was born August 10, 1880, in Elizabethtown, Ky. He lived in New Orleans and reputedly was cofounder and president of National Shirt Shops. In 1920-40, he is listed as a district manager. He married (1) in 1917, Palma Ann Young (1885-1965), in Detroit. Their daughter was Jane Katherine Slack (1921-90). He married (2) Marie Tatum (1895-1987).

Jane Katherine Slack (1921-90) lived in McLean, Va. and married in 1944, Lt. Commander Edward Robert Keblusek (1921-76)(Stanford 1947), son of Robert and Barbara Keblusek, of Chicago. He was an FBI agent, and in WWII was a Navy pilot and flight safety officer on the USS Hornet. Their children are Dr. Charles Winfield ; Sue Jane (Mary Washington 1970)(UFla. M.A. 1971) who was a speech pathologist for the Department of Defense, 1974-93, the Veterans Administration, 1993-98, and California State University at Hayward, 1999-2001; and Mary Ella Keblusek (Vanderbilt 1978, with honors) who was associate director of the Giraffe Project in Langley, Wash.

Dr. Charles Winfield Keblusek (VMI 1967)(Med.Col.Va. M.D. 1971) was an ob/gyn physician in Midlothian, Va. and a flight surgeon and major in the Air Force, 1972-76. He married in 1972, Virginia Fay Proterra (Longwood 1969), a school teacher, 1969-2003, and daughter of Anthony Joseph (Clarkson 19_) and Alice Odell Nichols Proterra, of Inverness, Fla. Her father was a mechanical engineer for Exxon in Aruba, D.W.I., and for the U.S. government. Their children are Scott Edward (VMI 2001) who lives in Richmond, is a civil engineer, and married in 2003, Brandy Loren Nelson; Katherine Marie (VPI 2003) who is an Eli Lilly drug representative in Raleigh, N.C.; and Michael Joseph Keblusek.

Winfield Montgomery Slack died November 16, 1952. His (2) wife, Marie Tatum, died May 2, 1987. They are buried in Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans. His (1) wife, Palma Ann Young, died April 15, 1965, and is buried in Daytona Beach, Fl.
