OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church of Mire for Theresa Prejean, age 90, the former Theresa Thibodeaux, who passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at her residence in Opelousas.

Interment will be in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church of Mire cemetery. The Rev. Mike Arnaud, pastor of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church of Mire, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Charlotte Jagneaux, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Be Not Afraid, One Bread, One Body, Old Rugged Cross, and On Eagle's Wings.

Mrs. Prejean was a native of Church Point and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. She retired as a lunch room manager for the St. Landry Parish School Board. Theresa was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Guidry and her husband, Jerry, of Opelousas; one son-in-law, Ron Cormier of Cankton; one daughter-in-law, Linda Prejean of Lewisburg; eight grandchildren, Kyle Blake Guidry and his girlfriend, Hailey Jo Lavergne, Nick Guidry and his fiancée, Kelly Greggerson, Tonya Cormier Leon and her husband, Keith, Brent Jude Cormier and his wife, Lacee, Ronnie James Cormier and his wife, Jami, Chantille Prejean Fontenot and her husband, Ike, Matt Prejean and his wife, Sabrina, Lane Prejean and his wife, Michelle; seventeen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Ewell Prejean; one son, Ray Prejean; one daughter, Lois Cormier; and her parents, Joseph Thibodeaux and the former Amile Meche.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Blake Guidry, Nick Guidry, Brent Cormier, Ronnie Cormier, Keith Leon and Josh Haddock.
