Harold Wayne Moore, 80, of Markleville, passed away on July 10, 2017, at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with acute leukemia.
He was born on June 16, 1937, in Anderson, and resided all of his life in Markleville.
His biology teaching career included teaching at Madison Heights High School in Anderson, Markleville High School, Pendleton Heights High School, retiring in 1994 from South Madison School Corp.
He was a member of Markleville Masonic Lodge from 1959-present, where he was a two-time past master, Markleville Order of the Eastern Star, Markleville Volunteer Fire Department where he was also an EMT. He was a founding member of Adams Markleville Fire Protection Territory, and was a member of ISTA. He attended Chesterfield Christian Church. He loved to travel and to go boating and share those experiences with everyone. He loved being an educator, enjoyed good food, and his genealogy work. He also didn't know a stranger, but most of all he had great love for his family.
Harold is survived by his son, Karl (Tina) Moore; daughter, Dianna (Moore)(Randy) Short; grandchildren, Amanda "Nikki" Short, Randall "Boomer" Short, and Lauren (Moore) (Justin) Rennaker; great-granddaughter, Addison Rennaker; companion and best friend, Betsy Ghanayem; brother, Ronald (Alice) Moore; brother-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Philbert; sister-in-law, Mary Jo Stohler; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sammie (Philbert) Moore; mother, Florence (Rector) Moore; and his father, Wayne Moore.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Masonic funeral rites will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ned Clark officiating. Burial will take place in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
