CARTERVILLE - Mildred M. (Wisely) Gustafson, 82, of Carterville, formerly of Sturgeon Bay, Wis., passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, in Helia Healthcare of Carbondale.
Millie was born in Jackson County on Feb. 18, 1924, the daughter of Mark and Emma (Linze) Wisely.
She married Robert K. Gustafson Aug. 28, 1954, in Evangelical Reformed Church in Green Bay, Wis., and he preceded her in death Nov. 23, 1995.
She had been a resident of Carterville since 1970 and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Marion. She graduated from Rockford School of Cosmetology in 1947, then from Rockford School of Business in 1952. She was employed in the payroll department at Barbara-Coleman Company in Rockford and was a volunteer at Sturgeon Bay, Wis., nursing home, and Mattingly Nursing Home in Engerly as a beautician. After her husband passed away she did volunteer work at the food pantry in Cambria.
Survivors include a dear friend, Mark J. Winter of Carterville; one niece, D. Marlene Brown of Bismarck, N.D.; one nephew, Larry Colebank of Virginia Beach, Va.; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Edna; and four brothers, Otis, Milo, James and Alden.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, in Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville, with the Rev. Herb Schafale officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Pinckneyville. Friends may call from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
