Henrico - Agatha "Gay" Strickland Forlines passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Born on March 14, 1926 to the late Mamie Tudor and Alvie Griggs Strickland and raised in North Carolina, she was a 1947 graduate of Women's College (UNC-G). Gay raised her family in Virginia Beach and was a long time educator. She loved the beach and vacationing with her family, sewing and playing bridge with friends. Gay was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Julian Howell Forlines.
Gay is survived by her children, Pam Stovall (Brack) and Mark Forlines (Carol Ann). Her grandchildren: Scott Stovall (Auburn), Julie Stovall, Jenny Polm (Jason) and Blair, Blake, Dylan and Dane Forlines, and great-grandchildren: Ava and Julian Stovall and Luke and Natalie Polm. Also, her sister and brother-in-law, Lena and Gene Bingham of Winston Salem, NC.
The family would like to thank Della Mary Trent, Alfreda Hatcher and Sherry Hatcher for their loving and compassionate care of our mom and Hospice of Virginia.
There will be a visitation from 1-2pm, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home with a private service to follow in the Chapel of Serenity Mausoleum.
