PETER BARKLEY, U.E.Loyalist.
Married on 9 February 1790 to Delia Spaarbeck in Schenectady, New York. Delia, born in Canajoharie, Mohawk Valley, was the daughter of Martinus Gabriel Sperbeck and Anna Margaretha.
FATHER: Eberhard Buercklin, born 15 Dec. 1710 in Weil im Schonbuch, Wuerttemberg, Germany, son of Hans Peter and Catharina Buercklin.
MOTHER: Maria Margaretha Hoss, born 20 Feb. 1720 in Weil im Schonbuch, Wuerttemberg, Germany, daughter of Joachim Hoss and Anna Barbara Burkhardt.
AMERICAN REVOLUTION: served as a private soldier, along with four brothers, in a Corps of Rangers commanded by Lieut. Col. John Butler. Peter is drawing rations at Niagara 30 Nov. 1783 in Capt. George Dame's Company. In 1791 Peter Barkley, with his wife and two young sons settled in Williamsburg Township, Dundas County, Upper Canada.

Peter Barkley petitioned in February of 1811 to have his name entered as a U.E. Loyalist, stating that he had served His Majesty faithfully for six years during the American Rebellion. On March 16, 1816 Rudolph Poapst testified on Peter's behalf, and on 4 April 1816 Peter's name was inserted on the U.E. Loyalist List, therefore allowing his children to petition for land.

- JACOB Barkley, born 27 Oct. 1789, New York, died 28 Feb. 1849, Williamsburg. Married to Nancy Ault (1795-1836), daughter of Everhard Ault, on 8 Jan. 1816. Land grant dated 1 Aug. 1833.
- MARTIN Barkley was born in 1791 in New York, and served in the 2nd Flank Company of the 1st Dundas Militia during the War of 1812. Martin petitioned for land as the son of a Loyalist on 19 April 1816, and was granted 200 acres, Lots 11 and 12, Concession 7, Williamsburg Township. On 3 Oct. 1820 Martin married Lena (Magdalena) Rosenberger, daughter of Jacob Rosenberger U.E.L.
- EVERHARD Barkley, born 11 July 1795, baptised 26 July 1795. Sponsors Philip Barkley and Margaret Barkley.
- MARGARETHA Barkley, born 8 Mar. 1798, baptised 25 Mar. 1798. Sponsors Peter Whitteker and wife Margaretha. Married to Henry Armstrong of Williamsburg on 3 Aug. 1818. Land grant 27 June 1833.
- ELIZABETH Barkley, born 6 Feb. 1801, baptised 6 April 1801, married Michael Kenny of Williamsurg. Land grant dated 2 Jan. 1834.
- CATHERINE Barkley, born 6 Jan. 1804, baptised 8 Jan. 1804, married Charles Loughrin of Williamsburg. Land grant dated 19 Dec. 1833.
- ANDREW Barkley, born 31 March 1809, baptised 24 pril 1809, married to Magdalena 'Laney' Beckstead on 21 Feb. 1834. Land grant dated 18 May 1833.
- HENRY P. Barkley, born 23 Dec. 1812, baptised 7 Feb. 1813. Land grant dated 19 Dec. 1833. Henry died 22 Aug. 1896, Williamsburg.
- EVERETT P. Barkley, land grant dated 2 May 1833, possibly the same person as Everhard, above.
