J J Brooks, a married farmer, dob abt 1827 in Alabama, enlisted 11 Mar 1862, in the Alabama 15th regiment, which was infantry, at the age of 35. He died in Virginia, on 30 Aug 1862. He was present and unhurt at all battles from Winchester, May 25, 1862 through battle of Manassas Plains August 29, 1862. Killed at Mannassas August 30, 1862.
