Brooksville was named for Henry Brooks, son of Jacob Warren Brooks, who came to Blount County from Abbeville, South Carolina about 1818. Jacob Warren Brooks' daughter, Nancy Sophronia, married William Alldredge, son of Andrew and Leah Chaney Alldredge.
