Colo Banner: ....Lizzie Hemping was born in Dauphin county, Pa., Nov. 26, 1843. When about twelve years of age she, with her parents, moved to Ogle county, Illinois, where they lived until 1866, when they came to Story county, Iowa. In 1870 she was married to Dr. John Daugherty, who departed this life Sept. 30, 1889, leaving an only child, Andrew E. Mrs. Daugherty continued her residence in Colo until June, 1896, when she was united to Mr. Bahr of La Porte City, Iowa. She had been confined to her bed more or less since January, 1898, but was not considered seriously ill until within a few days of her death, which occurred at her home in La Porte City may 3, 1898, being 54 years, 5 months and 7 days old. Her husband, son, mother, three brothers, three sisters and many friends mourn her departure.

Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hemping was the daughter of John H. Hemping and Eva Brosious.
She married Civil War veteran Dr. John Daugherty on October 30, 1870, at Story county, Iowa. To this union was born:
1) Andrew E. Daugherty (1874-1904)
She married Levi Bahr on June 9, 1896, at Marshalltown, Iowa.

Contributor's note: The Colo Cemetery does not have a record of Elizabeth Bahr's burial. Her 2nd husband is buried in the cemetery in La Porte City. Elizabeth is not buried beside him. He is buried beside his first wife, Amelia Bahr. No burial record has been located. There are three unmarked plots owned by John Daughtery. Elizabeth may be buried beside her first husband.
