DEAN, STELLA B., quietly departed this life on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at her home. She was born in Franklin, KY on February 11, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Hattie Bland) Griffin. She married Wister James Dean on February 16, 1946. They had a son, James Edward Dean, who preceded her in death, and three daughters. She joined the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in 1952 and was a member of the Missionary Choir, Missionary Society and a BTU teacher until she became ill. Those left to celebrate her home-going include her husband Wister Dean; daughters, Hattie Coleman, Beverly Sullivan (Joe) and Mildred Butler (Howard); brother, Larry Wallace Griffin; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Funeral: 1 p.m. Thursday at her church, 1057 S. 28th Street. Entombment in Evergreen Mausoleum; Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by G.C. Williams.
