Gwen Wolford passed from this life on Saturday, April 5th at her residence at Grace Place in Estacada, Oregon. She was 96.

Gwen was born on December 16, 1917 to Louis and May Pieper in Manyaska, MN, the 2nd of 8 children. Gwen graduated from Trimont High School in 1935. She married John Wolford on July 21, 1935 in Ceylon, MN. In 1942, they moved to the Parkrose area of Portland, Oregon. In 1946, they settled in the Dodge community near Estacada, where they raised 5 children on a small farm.

After John passed away in 1964, Gwen attended classes at Western Business University and Clackamas Community College. She was hired at the Estacada Fire Department as secretary/clerk, where she worked until her retirement in 1985. Afterwards, her travels with family and friends took her across the US, to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Israel. She
was an active member of Young at Heart at Tri-City Baptist Temple in Gladstone.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Sharon (Stan) Rutherford, Astoria; Jonnie Simmons, Warrenton; and Carol Beard, Molalla, whom Gwen considered her third daughter; and sons: William (Joanne), Lebanon, OR, David (Cheryl) and Randy (Deanna) both of Estacada; nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sisters Geraldine Morris, Rosamond Groth and Gertrude Rebo; brothers Rollie, Arthur, Robert and Fred; son-in-law George Simmons; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held for Gwen on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:30am, at the Dodge Community Church, immediately followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Estacada Community Center. Contributions in memory of Gwen can be made to Estacada Fire Department, Bristol Hospice or Dodge Community Church.

Cornerstone Funeral Services and Cremation of Boring, is in charge of cremation.
