"Orland Register" (Orland, California), Monday, 27 June 1949:

Services Held For Orland Woman

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two at the Sweet Chapel for Mrs. Hetty Cushman Thompson, who died last Friday at the Taylor Rest Home in Chico. Though Mrs. Thompson had been in ill health for a number of years, her death was unexpected. She collapsed during the afternoon while talking to her sister, Mrs. Irma DeArmond, and lived only until eight that evening.
Hetty Cushman Thompson was born at the Cushman Ranch near Newville on April 10, 1901, the daughter of a prominent pioneer family of that section. She graduated from the Orland High school and was cashier and bookkeeper for the firm of Scearce & Franke for a number of years. She made her home in Rio Vista for several years before returning to Orland. She had been a resident at the Taylor Rest Home for the past three and a half years.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Irma DeArmond, formerly of Orland, now of Berkeley; and one brother, Brewster Cushman, of Newville. Rev Smith was in charge of the services. Interment was in the Newville Cemetery. - Transcribed by E.
