Lillian Harris Sowers, 100, of Vinton, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 23, 2007. She was born on June 17, 1906 in Floyd, Va.

Lillian was the eldest daughter of the late James Harris and Prudence Harris, also preceding her in death was her husband, Oakie F. Sowers; two sons, Oliver and Dexter Sowers; nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by five daughters, Janette Roberson, Zennia and husband Leroy Crouch, Learlene and husband Alton Wilmer, Hilda and husband Al Robers, Norma Jean and husband Jack Scaggs; numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren. She will always be remembered as a devoted and loving mother and family member.

Lillian was a member of New Life Temple for 60 years. She and her husband owned a farm in the Hollins area and sold produce on the City Market for 30 years.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Walter L. Wood officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.
