Evelyn Mae McDannald
November 27, 1921 - June 19, 2017

Evelyn McDannald, 95, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville on Monday, June 19, 2017. She had been a resident there about a month.

Evelyn Mae (Adams) McDannald was born in Pennville, MO, on November 27, 1921, the daughter of Thomas B. and Hattie Louise (Bebout) Adams, who preceded her in death. She was reared in that area of Sullivan County and attended schools there through the seventh grade until she was afflicted diphtheria. She married Lavern McDannald in Unionville, MO, on October 4, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1988.

Evelyn spent her early adult years on the farm with Lavern, raising their two children, Janice and Ronald, and being a homemaker. She later worked at the Box Factory in Centerville and at McGraw-Edison for ten years before the plant shut down. She and Lavern also did the cleaning at Davis Chevrolet in Unionville. Evelyn liked to embroidery pillow cases and do puzzles. She also liked to sit close to Lavern whenever they drove the pickup. She attended the Unionville Assembly of God.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janice Boggs of East Moline, IL, and her daughter-in-law (Ronald’s wife) Ruth McDannald of Olathe, KS. Her grandchildren are Jerry Boggs, Rhonda Martin, Cindy McDannald, and Gary McDannald she also has three great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons. Evelyn’s surviving sisters are Elsie Lunsford of St. Charles, MO, and Bernice McDannald of Nashville, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Ronald McDannald. Evelyn was also preceded in death by two brothers, Icle Adams and Rolla Adams; and four sisters, Ines White, Reta Fetters, Bonnie Rosenstangle, and Ruthie Adams, who died in infancy.

Funeral services for Evelyn McDannald will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Friday, June 23, 2017. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 22. Interment will be at the Pherigo Cemetery.
