Mrs. Peter Clinton, one of the
oldest and best-known residents of
the borough died at the family home,
corner Ford and Walnut streets, on
Saturday afternoon, at the ripe age
of eighty years. Deceased bad been
confined to her bed for several months
owing to tie Infirmities of her advanced
age and while her death was
not unexpected, it came as a shock
to her hundreds of friends who will
mourn her loss, but cherish her many
acts of kindness. Up until a year
ago Mrs. Clinton possessed wonderful
Vitality, doing much of her own housework
Her faculties were also on the
best far better than most persons
many years her junior. After she had
passed her seventy-eighth birthday
she could read the daily papers without
the use of spectacles and her
mind was as active as could he. She,
however, will be greatly missed on account
of her many charitable acts. If
she knew of a family in distress it was
her ambition to render assistance.
Whether it was money or provisions
she was always willing to give liberally,
and through her death, the borough
has been robbed of one of it's best and noblest-hearted women, but our loss is her gain and she has gone
to receive the just reward which she
so richly deserves. She is survived
by Anna. Isabella Jennie, Michael,
and Richard. The funeral took place
this morning and was very largely attended.
High Mass of Requiem was
observed In St. Gertrude's church.
The Interment was In St. Matthew's
Cemetery. The pall bearers were
John Welsh, William Gordon, Martin Cornelius Eagan, Edward
Smith and Manus Lafferty.
