He married first in 1860 to Sarah Bluff. She died in 1866. Ruben remarried later that year to Mary Elizabeth Kimsey. Ruben and Mary Kimsey Remington had at least seven children in this union: Lucy, Sarah, John E., Marion Harry, Joseph, Macy, and Gillie Remington.

Early Polk County Pioneer Dies of Paralysis at Age of 77 Years.


Reuben C, Remington, who died at his home north of Dallas, Monday night, was born in New York, December 27, 1830. He emigrated to Oregon in 1852, and lived in Polk county almost continuously until the time of his death. He was married to Miss Sarah Buff in 1861. She died soon after her marriage, and in 1866 he married a second time, his last wife being Miss Mary E. Kimsey, a daughter of one of Polk county's well-known pioneer families.


His aged wife and eight children survive him. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. A. C. Corbin, Wednesday afternoon, and the remains were buried in the Brown cemetery.


Mr. Remington was an honest man, and enjoyed the respect and confidence of his neighbors.

OBITUARY:

Last Monday Reuben C. Remington, one of the best known men of this vicinity past to his eternal rest. He has made his home close to Dallas for many years, and was respected highly for his probity and excellent qualities of heart and mind. Although well past the meridian of life, his views on all subjects were eagerly asked for and respected by those who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. His passing has left a void hard to fill, and the bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.


Reuben C. Remington was born in New York state, December 27, 1830, and was nearly 77 years of age. He came to Oregon in 1852, and has lived in Polk county and vicinity nearly ever since. He was married to his first wife, Miss Sarah Buff, in 1861, but she died within a year or two after marriage. In 1866 he married Mary E. Kimsey, and she and eight children survive him, six of whom were present at the funeral, which occurred yesterday afternoon from his residence near Dallas, and the remains were laid to rest in the Brown cemetery, Rev. Corvin being the officiating minister. A large conclave of his devoted friends and neighbors followed him to the grave.
