McMinnville resident Thurman Basham, 80, died Monday, March 18, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following a brief illness.

A retired factory worker at Burroughs -Ross-Colville and a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church, he was the son of Lockey Jane Rigsby and Lester Basham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Ardellra Myers Basham in 1994.

He is survived by six daughters, Hassie Lee Dykes of McMinnville, Reva Joyce Fults of Northcutts Cove, Mary Elizabeth Santiago of Viola, Elaine Doak of McMinnville, Peggy Fults of McMinnville and Judy Gail Stotts of Morrison; six sons, Cecil Thurman Basham of McMinnville, Harold Basham of Morrison, Jimmy Basham of Morrison, and Horace Basham, Tommy Lee Basham and Dickie Lee Basham, all of McMinnville; 25 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Basham of Viola; and one sister, Ruby Townsend of Manchester.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p. m. at High's Chapel with Billy Campbell and Troy Jenkins officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
