A retired employee of the Batesville Casket Company and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Lester Basham and Lockie Jane Rigsby.
He is survived by three sons, Herbert, John A., and Freddy Lee Basham of McMinnville; four daughters, Carolyn Jane Blish, Alice Juanita Burnett, Margie Louise King, and Linda Lou Cripps, all of McMinnville; two brothers, William and Thurman Basham of Ohio; and three sisters, Ruby Townsend of Manchester, Maggie Cox and Minnie Henderson of McMinnville. 11 grandchildren also survive.
Services were held Saturday at High's Chapel with Raymond Sliger officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
