Arnold "Budd" Leo Gideon was born on February 12, 1929 to Eldo Burton Gideon and Ora Marie McTeer Gideon in Sparta. He went home to be with his Lord at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2000, in Ozark Nursing and Care Center, Ozark. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene and Dale Gideon; and a sister, Eula Mae Burkhart. Mr. Gideon was lifelong resident of Sparta. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Survivors include: a brother, Don Gideon and his wife Connie, Sparta; four sisters, Dorothy Jackson, Sparta, Faye Rantz and her husband Kenneth, Kissee Mills, Shirley Loomis, Chadwick and Sue Schreiner and her husband George, Sparta; a host of nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2000 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with the Reverend Ben Dewitt officiating. Visitation was Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Sparta.
