Theran Jr. Heap (TJ) passed away Friday June 2, 2017 at the age of 93 due to natural causes surrounded by family.
Theran was born May 23, 1924 in Paragonah Utah. He attended school in Parowan Utah until the age of 14 when he moved to Cedar City Utah to work full time for his brother in law Chester Parry at Parry Sand and Gravel. Theran worked construction for many years until he purchased his first semi-truck and trailer and started his own company, T&A Trucking that he built into a thriving business with multiple trucks and drivers. He operated the company until his retirement.
Theran was a member of the LDS church where he spent many years as a Scouter and received many awards including the Silver Beaver. He loved scouting and teaching the scouts and was going on 25 mile bike rides with the boys into his 70’s.
Theran joined the army during World War II and landed on Utah Beach 9 days after “D” day. During the war he was a truck driver transporting troops, ammunition and supplies throughout the European Theater. He drove in the Red Ball Express and the White Ball Express and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Theran served in England, Belgium, France and Germany. While in Germany he met a beautiful young German girl by the name of Anita Maletz. After the war Theran was able to bring her to Utah where they were married and raised a family in Cedar City, Utah.
Theran was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Theran was preceded in death by his wife Anita, his parents Lellon Burdick Heap, and Lillian Sarah Lowe, Heap, Daily. His brothers, Alden Heap, Robert Heap, his sisters, Maurine Parry, Irene Bryant, Thora Croft, Ruth Fender and grandson Derek Shawn Heap.
He is survived by his brother Larry Heap, his sister Jean Eastman, his children Bobbi Joan Resendiz, St George, Utah, Judy (Ernie) Ulibarri, Woodland Park Colorado, Theran W. (Jill) Heap, Cedar City, Utah, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 10, at 11:00 am at the Cedar City, Utah 4th Ward Chapel 500 West 400 North Cedar City, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 before the service at the Church. Internment will take place at the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
