Jameson (Jim) Larimore, III, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.

Jameson (Jim) Larimore, III was born on December 14, 1938 in Grand Forks, ND to Jameson Larimore, Jr. and Alice (Ball) Larimore.

He attended Gearheart Elementary School in Del Ray Beach FL and Graham Eckes’ School in 7th and 8th grade. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in Culver, IN in 1956. He attended Colorado A & M for one year and then completed his college education at the University of North Dakota in 1961 where he received a degree in Business Administration. Jim was a member of the ROTC for four years in college.

Jim married Roberta Wadsworth and they raised four children. On December 31, 1990, Jim and Marilyn Shultz were married in Mesa, AZ.

Jim was a partner/manager in Elk Valley Farms for over 39 years, retiring from farming in 1995. During his time working on the farm he developed an irrigation system, growing from 2 systems to 20 systems. The main crops grown on the Elk Valley Farms were potatoes, corn, and soy beans.

He was a member of the Larimore United Methodist Church, on the Board of Directors/Vice President of the Red River Valley Marketing Association, Potato Marketing Association of North America and the Legion Post 97 in Larimore. Jim served his country as an Army Training Officer as 1st Lt. at Ft. Jackson, SC from 1961-1963.

Jim loved woodworking, gardening, hunting, and fishing at the Lake of the Woods. Jim and Marilyn enjoyed travelling with family and friends. Flying was also a passion of Jim’s. He learned to fly during his time in South Carolina where he was trained by Ray Clark who flew Air Force One for President, D. D. Eisenhower. He also trained in flying helicopters.

When Jim was home, you rarely saw him without one of his dogs. They were an important part of his life. During his time at Good Sam, the dogs often came to visit.

Jim loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Jameson Larimore, Jr. and Alice (Ball) Larimore, Sister Sally Ann Marshall, daughter Linda Jean Larimore and granddaughter Jennifer Rose Aanenson.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Larimore,ND.

VISITATION: Sunday, June 4 from 6-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service in the church on Monday.

INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND

MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post 97 of the Larimore American Legion and the ND National Guard Honor Team.
