On Sunday, May 27, 2012, Virgil Hansel Strong passed away at the age of 82 years.

He was a retired butcher at Swift Meat Co. and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Strong is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth Strong; three daughters, Barbara Diane Thornton, Janice Murielene Moree and Serena Carol Laubscher; a sister, Fedonia Townsend; and two brothers, James Houston Strong and Reuben Earl Strong. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jennifer, Willy, James, Bruce and Mackenzie, and four great-grandchildren, Josh, Avery, Reagan and Xander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie Mae Britt and Thomas Condie Strong; a sister, Mary Ruth Strong; and three brothers, Maurice, John and Anderson Strong.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of D.T. Williams Funeral Home, 67525 Louisiana Highway 41, Pearl River. Visitation on Monday is at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at Hickory Memorial Gardens Cemetery, located at Williams Funeral Home, Pearl River. Michael Dohm, Michael White and David Nabo will officiate.
