Some sources give his birth year 1852. Robert was a very handsome gentleman and you can find a good photo of him in the Donnelly Photo Gallery on the Website: THE OFFICIAL DONNELLY HOME PAGE

Robert Donnelly married Anna 'Annie' Marie Currie or Curry on Dec 23 1873 daughter of Robert Currie and Jane Stinson.
Robert's only sister Jane 'Jennie' Donnelly married 'Annie' Currie's brother, James E Currie. Robert Donnelly, married Annie, a sister of James Currie of the Glencoe area. Robert Donnelly and Annie Currie had one child who died at a very early age. They had no other children.

Robert and his brothers were always being accused of crimes they were probably often innocent of. Members of the community seemed to resent the success the Donnelly boys enjoyed . Robert was charged with shooting Constable Everett and served time at Kingston Penitentiary for the crime some claimed he was innocent of. Robert returned home when freed. Robert was in St. Thomas when the brutal murders of his parents, brothers and cousin took place. Robert operated the Western Hotel.

Robert was admitted to the London Psychiatric Hospital in 1908, no doubt because of the suffering and depression he must of felt due to the murders of his family and the fact that although evidence was provided as to the identities of the those who slaughtered the Donnellys no one was charged. Robert began his journey in the spirit world in 1911
