The Donnelly Massacre is a 5 part documentary on Yotube -a real eye opener. "One of Canada's finest detectives , Michael Boyd re-examines the mass murder of the infamous Donnelly family using modern investigative techniques. Michael Boyd is one of Canada's most experience homicide detectives . He spent 3 decades with the Toronto Police Department and has worked cases with the FBI." Well worth viewing.

In 1871, Jim and Judith's fourth son, Patrick, married nineteen-year-old Mary Ryan. Two years later, however, she died. The death occurred possibly in childbirth, and the child itself did not survive. Patrick spent the rest of his life in the Niagara area, in Thorold and St. Catharines, where he married another Mary who bore him three girls and two boys. Their children were: Jenny, Annie, Mary (Mayme), John and Matthew. I came to know Annie's two boys, Bob and Tom. Tom has seven sons of his own. Patrick Donnelly's son, John, died unmarried in 1945. Patrick's other son, Matthew, did take a wife, but the marriage lasted only for a brief period, and he, too, died childless.

Name: Patrick DONNELLY
Birth: 15 APR 1849 in Biddulph Twp, Middlesex Co, Ontario, Canada
Death: 18 MAY 1914 in St Catharines, Ontario of pneumonia,
Note:
Patrick Donnelly was born in Canada in 1849 (some sources say 1850). In 1871 Patrick married Mary Ryan, whose family had connections to Biddulph Township. As a young man Patrick moved to London to learn the trade of blacksmith and carriage/wagon making. Away from home, Patrick did not become entangled with the law nearly as much as did his brothers. Patrick eventually moved to Thorold where he was a wagon maker and a husband and father. Away from the Donnelly homestead, he escaped death at the hands of the mob that killed his parents, niece and two of his brothers in 1880. James Feeheley confessed his participation in the murders to Patrick, but nothing came of the confession. Patrick died in 1914.
