Henry Frerichs Summoned Sunday

In a chapel filled with lifelong family friends, final rites for Henry A. Frerichs, resident of the community for 78 years, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, from Hotchkiss Mortuary with Rev. James Otter, assisted by the the Native Sons, officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were Walter Peterman, Frank Brown, Fran Huck, L. F. Steinmetz, Theodore Nicolysen and William Riecks. Active pallbearers were John Herrero, Bert Banta, Nick Heinbockel, Joe Payne, George Wadsworth and Nick Canale. Interment was in the Tracy Cemetery.

Mr. Frerichs, who had led an active life until very recently, passed away at his home, 389 West Eaton avenue, last Sunday. He was born at San Francisco on Augusut 9, 1868, but came to Ellis with his parents when he was three months old. He helped move the buildings from Ellis to Tracy.

After quitting ranching, he served as deputy county assessor for 30 years. He was one of the men who organized the West Side Irrigation District in 1915 and served as director for many years. When the present high school was built he was a member of the board.

On October 20, 1892, he married Miss Suzie Lingerfelser and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anninverary in 1942. When Tracy Parlor, Native Sons of the Golden West, was established on September 28, 1892, Mr. Frerichs was one of the charter members. He was one of the five charter members present to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the local chapter.

He was also a member of Woodmen of the World, Westside Pioneer Society and Tracy Wildlife association. He was an ardent fisherman and hunter. Only last fall he enjoyed duck hunting regularly during the season.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Suzie Frerichs. He was the father of Harry J. Frerichs and Mrs. Myrtle Fisk, both of Tracy and the late Claude Frerichs. He was the brother of Mrs. Bertha McGee, Tracy, and the late Edward, George and John L. Frerichs and the late Mrs. Josephine Coffee.

He was the granfather of LeRoy and Harry Fisk, Harry J. Frerichs, Jr., Rosellen Frerichs and Mrs. Jeanne Bowin, all of Tracy, ant the great granfather of Carol Anne, Louise and Linda Fisk, all of Tracy.
