CORTLAND — Alice Chipps, 89, of Cortland, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

Alice was born June 17, 1927, in Willoughby, to Otis B. and Stella Beckwith Sheffield.

On July 21, 1973, she was united in marriage to Austin Chipps.

Alice spent her career managing the Book Nook in Warren. When she retired, books continued to be her passion, so Alice and her husband, Austin, co-founded the Center of Balance, a metaphysical center, and Alice’s Book Shelf in Fowler, a store for rare, out-of-print and hard-to-find books.

Alice was a member of TCSPR (Trumbull County Society for Psychic Research) for 25 years and a board member for 20 years.

She is survived by her husband, Austin; children, Michael David (Eve) McMillan, Dianna Lynn McMillan, Stephen Eric (Mary Grodek) Chipps, L. Eric Chipps and Danielle Kathleen (Will) Casas; and grandchildren, Steven Phillip Carl, Gabrielle Grayhawk Casas, Tony Tomasic and Hannah Bright.

Alice was preceded in death by her son, Phillip Gregory McMillan.

A memorial service for Alice will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Unity Centre for Spiritual Living, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Girard, OH 44420.
