Henry G. Blohm Portage Henry G. Blohm, age 88, of Portage, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2005. He is survived by his children: Ernest (Christine) Blohm of Valparaiso, Valerie Blohm of Portage and Christine Blohm of Bloomingdale, IL; grandchildren: Brittany, Morgan (Shannon), Trevor (Kristin) and Jacob; great-grandson, Dakota. Preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Mathilda (nee Martensen) Blohm; wife, Mary; three brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Avenue, Portage with Pastor Mark Overmyer and Paul Hedstrom officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Henry was a Portage resident for 86 years, a member of the Family Bible Church of Portage, he was a WWII Army veteran, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He was retired from U.S. Steel Gary Works, was an avid bowler with the Young at Heart team. He was a member of the Portage Community Historical Society (Board member/ volunteer), Woodchucks Woodworkers Club, Portage Alumni Association. He was also a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Henry lived out his faith in and love of Jesus Christ, serving others with a joyful heart.
